Architecture of Hotel del Rijo

The Hotel Rijo is a two storey colonial building. There is a central small patio framed by two half point arches and a trefoil. The majestic facade highlights a succession of five big arches, several iron bars, and a beautiful nailed wooden great hall door, all protected by an outer overhang.

The place where the hotel is situated is a 19th century house. The original designer and masons have not been able to determine yet. In the year 2000, a precise reconstruction project began rescuing the building from the ruins returning the structure to its old splendour, reopening its doors on November 18, 2001.

Nigel Alexander Hunt

Welcome to my site dedicated to the famous and historical Hotel del Rijo. I am "poco a poco" researching and updating it with the aim to provide as complete as possible record of the hotel's ancient and recent history; bearing in mind that the goings-on today may one day be of historical interest.

My site is NOT the official website of the current hotel operator, and is by no means endorsed by them; but I am grateful for their help with the research.

You can make from this site room reservations through the Bizloco eTravel System operated by Cubaism Ltd.

Best wishes for 2017
